It was only 57 degrees and really windy this morning. I actually wore long sleeves for my run. After climbing nice and easy about 1000 feet over 5 1/2 miles I turned around and ran back down at 6:35 pace for 5 miles and then did about a mile cool down. It felt good to run fast for the first time since I injured my calf about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Mon, 15 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Oct 13, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-13-2018.html
Today we travel home so no running. We ended up spending the majority of our trip in Alabama. The beach here is just a beautiful as Florida. We had to change our flight home out of Pensacola since the Panama City airport is messed up from the hurricane. Considering everything that happened it was still a pretty good vacation.
Sat, 13 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Oct 12, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-12-2018.html
6 easy miles
Fri, 12 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Oct 11, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-11-2018.html
5 mile easy run on the beach. It was crazy how nasty the waves got, and now that it is past, it’s nice and calm.
Wed, 10 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Oct 09, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-09-2018.html
There was a mandatory evacuation by 6:00 am today so we were up early and are now in Orange Beach, Alabama. It’s still cloudy and windy and the ocean is churning, but we are outside the danger zone.

It doesn’t look like I’ll get a run in today.
Tue, 09 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Oct 08, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-08-2018.html
10 miles on Front Beach Rd. Looks like we are going to be forced to evacuate tomorrow with Hurricane Michael bearing down on us. That will add a little adventure to this vacation.
Mon, 08 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Oct 06, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-06-2018.html
I’m traveling to Panama City Beach, Fl. Today so no time to run. I had planned on making this upcoming week in Florida my recovery week but since I had an injury forced recovery week this last week, I’ll try and get in a decent training week this week as long as it doesn’t interfere with family time.

I believe my calf is 100% though. That makes me happy.
Sat, 06 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Oct 05, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-05-2018.html
1 hour recovery
Fri, 05 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Oct 04, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-04-2018.html
10 slow miles, even slower than yesterday. Calf still feeling good.
Thu, 04 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Oct 03, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-10-03-2018.html
20 miles nice and easy right at 3 hours. Calf didn't feel too bad, but I don't think I would want to go fast on it yet. I think I will take this week and log as many slow miles as my calf will allow. Hopefully it will be back and feeling 100% by next week and then I can finish my last 4 weeks of my marathon plan.
Mon, 01 Oct 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Sep 29, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-29-2018.html
I showed up at the High school 5k fund raiser race this morning and started my warm up. My right calf felt really tight after 1 mile so I stopped, walked over to registration, donated my $25, headed home, and took my wife and boys out on the lake for a day of kneeboarding, wakeboarding, and relaxing on the lake. It was a great day. Hopefully Monday morning my calf will feel better.
Sat, 29 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Sep 28, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-28-2018.html
1 hour recovery
Fri, 28 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Sep 27, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-27-2018.html
6 recovery then core.
Thu, 27 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Sep 26, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-26-2018.html
8 easy.

Usually Wednesday would be a long day, but since I'm planning on running a 5K this Saturday I decided to shorten it up today.
Wed, 26 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Sep 25, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-25-2018.html
6 recovery then core
Tue, 25 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Sep 24, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-24-2018.html
2 mile warm up then I started a progression run with the first mile at 7:10 pace and increased 10 seconds per mile for 6 miles with the 6th at 6:20. Then I took a recovery mile, and then did 2 more miles at 6:20 then 6:10. Finally, I finished up with 2 cool down miles.

Total 13 miles
Mon, 24 Sep 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Sep 22, 2018 http://Rhett.fastrunningblog.com/blog-09-22-2018.html
1 hour recovery then core.

4 weeks down, 6 to go.
Sat, 22 Sep 2018 06:00:00
