What a beautiful day for a run. 47 degrees not a cloud in the sky and not even a small breeze. I made the most of it by heading out for a hard 16 miler. I did the easy out hard back thing. I made it out (8mile) in 1:00:20 then picked it up a bit on the way back. At mile 10 I was at 1:14:55 then my Garmin charge ran out so I don't know my final time, but I'm guessing somewhere around 1:57 or 1:58. The best part, foot pain was 0/10 for almost the entire run. I had a few little twinges, mostly on left hand turns and a bit at the start, but mosthly nothing. What a difference 4 days makes.

My attitude about my running has made a complete 180 degree turn this week as well. At the beginning of the week I was ready to pull out of Boston, now after having done an 11 mile marathon pace run, mile repeats (5), and a good hard long run, I'm feeling all jazzed about my running again. I'm never taking steroids for running things again. That totally messed with me and didn't help my foot at all. Advil has worked much better for me.

I did the last .3 as a cool down so I would hit an even 54 miles for the week. I'd have to go back and check, but I don't think I ever went that far during my SGM training this last time around.

PK!!!!

That is AWESOME!!! Okay, I am convinced that your good healing spirit will spread my direction and I will also have some great days in the very near future. Right now I am in the same place you were a few days ago ... questioning Boston, etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me experience what you are now experiencing as well (other than no way ever could I run your pace).

Nicely done PK!! You are awesome!

Wow, Rhett. Am I crazy or is that a lot of miles?!!! You and Smooth and really tearing it up. I believe you ran 30 miles more than I did this week. Of course, you're all further along in training for Boston. Great job. Hope the foot feels good in the morning.

Teena, Kathie, Dale. Thanks I feel blessed to be back so quickly from what I thought would keep me from running Boston. This morning my foot was a little more tender than normal, but no sharp pains.

Teena, I hope you soon heal. I included you in my fasting and prayers this weekend. Good luck with your injury.

From Smooth on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 18:13:28

That's gotta be a good feeling!!! SO VERY HAPPY for you. We have Feb and March for some solid good training and hopefully peak in April before the Boston taper. Looks like you're in good shape to ramp up your training. We need everyone, including Teena, to be healthy and ready for Boston. Here's to injury free training and running!
