Today I set out to run 10 half mile repeats with a one minute walk break in between.  Right from the start I knew it wasn't my day, and by the fifth repeat I was only running a 7 min mile pace.  My marathon pace is 6:50, so I definitely was not getting in the speed work I wanted.  I should be doing the repeats at about 5:50 pace.  Since I obviously wasn't accomplishing what I wanted, I called it a day after 5 repeats.  Heck, Monday I ran 3 miles averaging 6:14, I don't know what got into me today.

That's weird!! Wish my good days would come near your bad days!! You are so stinkin' fast!!

Rough day it looks like. I hate days like that. Good thing is tomorrow is a new day.

Nothing wrong with abandoning a workout when it isn't going your way. We're not even two weeks out from SGM, give it time, it'll come back.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have days like that every now and then, and if it is a speed day, I've learned just to call it a day and live to run another day. No reason to run slow when I'm supposed to be doing speed work.

Very wise choice though. I would say the hardest workouts for me are the speed ones by far. I would rather do a 20 miler then speedwork.
