My foot did not improve with a good night's rest. It is still pretty sore today. I ice rolled it as forcefully as pain would allow this morning and that helped some. I lifted at the gym, heavey upper and light lower body. Then I stuck with some elliptical work so I wouldn't put any more stress on the PF tendon. I'm a little bummed today about the state of my foot. I'm hoping a few days off from running will help.

Bad news.

Dang, Rhett, you were starting to get better. I feel your furstration.

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 13:38:09 from 71.219.64.200

I am so sorry, dang feet!

Have you tired rolling with a Coke (or sprite) bottle? They have all of those bumps at the bottom and provide a more massaging type of ice therapy. I do tons of calf stretches before, during, and after running. Those stretches seem to really get the arch of my foot.

I have been using KT Tape (that you get free at all the races). You can buy it at Sports Authority. Here is a link to how to apply it for PF: http://www.kttape.com/PlantarFasciitis.asp

The PT did tape me up with very non flexible tape really tight one day and I noticed it helped a ton, but I do not know how to do it on my own and it was pretty uncomfortable.

Good luck!!!

You

Thanks for the info Kelli. I think I do need to stretch my calfs more. I think I'm going to get some of that tape and try it out. Do you leave it on for a few days or only put it on when you are running? That is a good idea on using a bottle with more ridges too. I'll try that.

Sorry to hear about the foot. :(

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 15:28:57 from 71.36.80.74

I'm sorry to hear about this set-back. How long has it been since the cortisone shot? I hope the taping and all that icing and stretching helps. Hang in there. You're taking care of that foot so well. Hoping for a better tomorrow!

From Huans32 on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 16:43:50 from 138.64.2.76

Hang in there man. It will get better with time. I do know how your feeling and hope it will be feeling better soon. Keep up the xtraining and when your foot is ready you will be too.

From Teena on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 18:23:44 from 67.177.20.13

I'm so sorry.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will be feeling so so so much better in the morning!!! :)

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 21:32:33 from 71.219.64.200

I am a major wimp, so I take it off. I can not sleep with it on. BUT they say it will stay on for up to 5 days, even with showering. So, if you do not mind it, wear it!! I did wear it for a few days ALL day and noticed a difference.

GOOD LUCK! Anything that will strengthen your calf will help, so get some rock solid calves!!!

Oh Rhett so sorry...I hope Kelli's tip helps you out!

From Rhett on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 13:29:48 from 74.41.249.102

Kelli, thanks for the advice. I had to order the KT tape, since no one in Havasu carries it. It won't be here for a couple weeks. :( I swithced my frozen bottle to one with ridges and that seems to massage the foot better. I guess I start working on the calfs more than I already do and see if that helps. Thanks again. And good luck with your foot.

I am obviously not an expert, so I can only tell you what I have been told. But, you do a bunch of stretching, too, right? Like ALWAYS stretch your foot a ton before you get out of bed in the morning (or get up from a nap on the couch). And stretching the arch on the stairs several times a day is a must, but do not stretch to pain, stretch too JUST before pain!

How about today? Any improvement?
