P90X Day 48

I skipped Kempo today for a local 5K fund raisers for the high school cross country team.  I am not trained for running but I wanted to support the cross country team so I showed up, paid my $25 and toed the line.  The race was on a local golf course which was kind of fun, but challenging with all the sandy spots, sharp turns, and hills.  I went out at a conservative pace and settled into a nice groove by mile 1. About 2 1/2 miles into the race I was running with one other guy who looked like he was about 20 years old.  We were in 6th and 7th place.  I was ahead, but right before mile 3 he passed me.  I just hung on. He had about 10 yards on me coming into the final turn with about 200m go. Even though I was hurting, I decided to go for it.  I caught up to him and he kicked as hard as he could we were both in a full sprint. I knew I was faster than him if I could just endure the pain.  With about 30 yards to go he quit and I sprinted in for the 6th place finish and 1st in my AG.

HEY!!! you're more than half way done with the P90X!!!

CONGRATZ on the WIN! :) It goes to show that you are a terrific AND competitive runner beating a 20 yo runner in the dead sprint not having trained in cross-country running/racing. I think your running talent is enhanced just a tad bit with the p90X. You're definitely going into your marathon training cycle with a very very very fit and healthy body! AWESOME, bish! :)

Thanks Smooth, Dale, Tim, and Teena. It was fun to have a race where there was a sprint to the finish. Usually I don't have anyone close enough in front or behind me to warrant the all out sprint. I loved it even though it hurt.

Teena, he just said good job. Both of us were hurting and not capable of much talk at that point.
