I survived my 20 miler this morning, but barely.

Left the house at 4am.  It was already 70 degrees.  My body didn't want to be out there. I only got about 3 1/2 hours sleep last night and I ate way too much when I went out with my hot wife last night.  I still felt full and like I was going to puke the whole run.  I really started dragging around mile 16.  At mile 19 I passed the car wash with the digital thermometer, it read 78 degrees.  I slogged out the last mile and was happy to be home.

 20 miles AP 8:12

During my run I drank about 60 fluid oz, ate 3 gus, and dumped about 20 oz on my head. I weighed in before and after the run and I still lost 7 lbs on the run.  No wonder I feel terrible right now even a couple hours later.

Well my 2 week marathon training plan is over, now it's time to taper!  Boston here I come!

WOW!!!! I thought you were nuts when you said you were going to do this!!!! Now I know why! :)

How is your knee?

Seriously ... you are beyond TOUGH and DETERMINED!!!!

Strong run, especially given the conditions and minimal sleep. You are one tough hombre.

Only you could pull of a run like that...Well, maybe Smooth, too. Seven lbs lost during the run? Wow. I weight myself occasionally before and after long runs and it's always the same as when I started.

sounds fun Rhett! How'd the knee like that?

It was nice to get in a 20 miler at an ok pace before Boston. My knee did great and still feels good today. Pretty soon I'll be begging for temps in the 70s, but it was a bit of a shock to the system yesterday morning. Hopefully Boston will be in the 50s, cloudy, and no wind.

I am hoping for great weather in Boston too!

Nice run I am so happy you got in 20 miles and your knee still feels great! good for you!

From Smooth on Mon, Apr 04, 2011 at 10:40:21 from 67.2.74.200

YAY!!! I am so happy you got your 20 miler done in great pace under not so perfect condition! And NO knee issues!! SO GREAT!!! You are AMAZINGLY AWESOMELY STRONG!!! :) :) :)

Can't wait to see you and Doone in two weeks!

Amazing that you could crank out a 20 miler at that pace with what you have had to deal with. I've been running semi-consistently and don't think I could do that right now.

From Doone on Mon, Apr 04, 2011 at 17:38:52 from 184.10.158.177

This "hot" wife is sorry she kept you out so late and that you ate so much at dinner but we had a great date so I am only a little sorry :-)

You had a great run and I am so excited for you and so proud of you for enduring to a healthier place. You are going to have so much fun at Boston. Your running skills ALWAYS leave me speechless - a talent for sure - I missed that line in heaven.

Love you and keep it up sweetie.
