I know this may sound blasphemous to many a runner, but I'm having one of those weeks were I realize how many things in life are more important than running.  I still love running, but how much time am I willing to dedicate to it?  I've actually really loved having the week off from any hard running.  I think my knee will feel better on Monday, so I'm sure I'll be back at it, but I'm not sure how into I'm going to be.

30 minutes elliptical-  no knee pain

5 minutes stationary bike- much less pain than yesterday

I totally understand what you are saying, Rhett! I know time and sleep-wise I just don't have it in me to train super hard for races. I always try to do my long runs when everyone else is asleep so it doesn't mess with my family time and that isn't easy because I'm usually wiped out by then. I never even have much energy to train hard because of the lack of sleep. I decided a month or so ago to just go with the flow and train with what feels comfortable. Even then I'm still pretty spent after my runs. I just don't see how I could train hard and still function normally to spend wuality time with my family.

There is definitely more to you than running!!! (But you are most definitely still a runner.)

Balance in all things! :) :) :)

I sure do hear you on this one.

Maybe you can use all the extra time to work on your spelling (ha, ha). I really get it because I don't feel like a runner at heart and working in the training is killer for me. You do a great job balancing and you will be out there soon (or at least you better because Boston is right around the corner). Love you!

I echo a lot of the sentiments here. I feel so guilty about running taking away from family time that I do a great deal of it while my family is sleeping. When I actually don't run and sleep in, it is...heavenly. I love to run, I do, but I love the days I don't and get to relax and spend time doing whatever.
