I was excited to get up and run this morning.  I've been walking 100% pain free and doing the eliptical pain free as well so I decided I was ready.  I headed over to a park with a big grass field that I could run around and started to run.  I took it easy, but was suprised at the amound of pain I had right from the start.  It wasn't anything like the sharp tearing pain I had during Boston, but it was much more than I anticipated.  I almost stopped right then, but decided to try and run just a bit more.  I ended up running 2 miles on grass and the pain came down some by the end, but I figured I shouldn't push it any more.  I then headed over to the gym and did 30 min eliptical, pain free.

I guess I'll wait and see how my foot responds for the rest of the day and tomorrow.  It's definitely not healed enough for any hard running.

It sounds like you not quite ready for any running. Take it easy. There is no rush to come back. Of course, this is advice that I have ignored many times.

I imagine the pain might be around for quite some time while you run. I hear those take a really long time to heal. I don't really have any suggestions, bit I think if I had that problem, I might start out with long, brisk walks up nice hills, but that's just me. Others may disagree, but I'm always overly cautious.

Yep, you guys are all right. My foot is not ready yet. It is now 1:15 and it hurts pretty good to walk around the office. I hope it feels better tomorrow. Looks like I have at least one more week of cross training ahead of me. I really did enjoy my little run this morning though. I just hope I didn't set my healing back further.

Dude, it seems a bit too soon to be running on a tear like yours. Sounds like you better continue to take it easy for a while longer. Be patient, but like Andy said, easier said than done.

Teena, Mark, Last night the pain was almost back to the point it was at right after Boston, plus I had this occasional sharp pain in my achelies tendon that was knew. That was really worrying me. This morning it feels a lot better, but is still uncomfortable. I even considered putting the boot back on this morning, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Jeff, yep, I should have stopped after the first few hundred yards instead of going a full 2 miles. I'm an idiot.

Sorry to hear that man. With this foot of mine I would keep testing the water and pushing it. Mostly too hard and it would set me back a bit. Its good to test it but any signs of pain I would back off totally man. Let it heal up and you will be back at it. After what seemed like forever(actually only like 2-3 months). I was back up to running and now it feels much better. Best to rest and run again later.

Thanks Mark and Kathie. I was feeling a bit down last night so I cheered myself up with a big bowl of ice cream. Now I feel fat and my foot still hurts. I need to come up with some sort of exercise plan for the next few weeks. I just get bored with everthing else but running.

I have just done the physics to see how fast you would have to be running Teena to get nowhere. Assuming Rhett runs at a constant speed of 6:30 miles per minute, taking into account the drag created by the water, the mass of Rhett compared to your mass, the density of water being 62.4 lb/ft3, carry the one, you would have to be running at 56.7 mph.

Burt, thanks for the good laugh. Teena I guess you would have to be running pretty fast so I wouldn't drag you around the pool. We could do like a tug of war thing. That would make water running more interesting. LOL

Smooth, if 88 is lucky I'll paint it on my chest as long as it gets me running again soon.

I did lower body weights last night and a spin class followed my some eliptical this morning. I'm tired of blogging my non-running.
