Went out for my Monday night test run after getting the kids down.  It was better than last week.  I made it 1.6 miles before the knee started tightening up.  I switched to my walk, jog, skip, run backwards, sideways shuffle, etc. routine when the pain hit about a 3 or 4.  I didn't want to aggravate my knee.  I ended up doing 5.3 miles with an average pace of 9:48.

I was bummed that I am not better yet, but encouraged that I made some progress.  I'll do another week of cross training and try again next Monday.

well -- progress is much better than regress.

I agree with Tim!!

How is blue sausage?

I think I might secretly have to follow you and video your "unique" running style. I am proud of you for taking care of yourself. There was a time you would have thrown caution to the wind but no anymore.

From Smooth on Tue, Feb 22, 2011 at 15:32:49 from 67.2.117.33

Bishop, I am so proud of you being cautious! Keep listening to your body (and the Holy Ghost too which I am sure you already do)!! :) :) :)

Oh Doone ~ Will you post the video...I wanna see the creative running technique too!!! It may come in handy for me at Boston, although my pace would be much much much slower, just so I can finish before they *close up shop*. I got a glimpse of the 6 HR finishers last year when I emerged from the med tent, a lonely sad sight!

Now you can't ask anyone for a blessing because you are at the top of the food chain.

Rhett, that's a real bummer!!! I thought for sure your knee was getting better. I guess it is, but slowly, right?

I would love to see a video of you hopping, skipping and jumping your way around town.

From Mack on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 12:17:37 from 71.111.188.189

Glad to see you are getting a little better.

I'm with Dale, I want to see your new workout in action. If I saw someone hopping and skipping down the road like that I'd probably call the police and tell them there was a drunk/druggie that needs some help! :)

From Rhett on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 13:38:14 from 74.41.249.102

Yes, I'm sure I look rediculous, but I gotta do waht I gotta do. It sure is a good workout.

I tried calling a PT today to see if I could get some treatment, but they said I had to have a doctors referral. I don't have time to go sit at a dr's office for a couple hours for them to say, I don't know what's wrong. How about you stop running for a while and we'll see what happens.

I know what you mean. Optometrists are the same way! They just look at your eyes and say "quit reading so much in dim light." Now us dentists on the other hand wouldn't think of doing that kind of thing to our patients. :)

LOL Mack. No way we would say that. We would definitely sell you a pair of glasses, preferably in a nice designer frame. :)

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 19:08:55 from 206.19.214.144

LOL Mack! What you don't know is that Rhett IS an optometrist. Ah hahahahaha!!!!

Oh, you knew that.
