My foot was feeling pretty good yesterday and I really wanted to run, so I went to the gym and warmed up for 10 minutes on the eliptical.  I then got on the TM and started a nice easy run.  My foot was feeling great and I was really enjoying myself as the first couple miles went along.  I hit mile 3 and was still feeling great, so I decided I would do 6 miles.  Well, just a little bit into the 4th mile my foot started to hurt a bit and the pain started to increase to the point that I slowed it down significantly over the last half mile of the 4th mile and then called it quits at 4.  My foot hurt pretty bad last night, but this morning I could barely walk.  I put one of those analgesic patches on it to help me get through the day, but it really hurts.

I made the decision this morning, that I will not run again until some time in July.  I will stick with the arc trainer and eliptical machine for the next few weeks no matter how good it feels.  I'll probably do a test run when I'm in CA over July 4th weekend, since I won't have access to my gym, and if that doesn't go well, I'll make another appointment with my podiatrist.

Bad luck. Just remember the time off will allow you to run later. Hope things get better.

That really stinks, Rhett!!! Oh man, what a set-back.

I am so sorry to hear about the pain. STINK! STINK! STINK!

You are doing everything right to Xtrain and staying positive. July is the month! Hang in there!

Rhett,

I know that you are disappointed, but how awesome is it that you have made a decision?!?! Now there is no going back and forth on whether you should try and run or not.

I finally started to get better after I did the exact same thing. I took 4 weeks off of running and vowed that no matter how tempting it was that I was strong enough to resist and strong enough to come back and start all over if needs be.

You will not regret this decision. The time will seem to take forever, but after it is done you will look back and it won't feel like it was long at all.

You are strong enough to resist the temptation and strong enough to start all over if needs be (but you won't have to ... you are so stinkin' strong!!!).

You are incredible!!! :)

Stick to your decision Rhett ... no running until 4th of July. I'll be watching!!! :)

Listen to Teena! She knows what she's talking about and she understands you! That's what's great about her. She is right...Rhett, you are strong enough to stick with your plan and strong enough to overcome whatever disappointment thrown at ya. No running until Freedom Day!

JohnnyV Thanks. I'll be doing a lot of Xtraining.

Dale, yeah it stinks, but at least I have you guys to run for me vicariosly.

Smooth, STINK is right, but I'm feeling OK about it, at least for now.

Teena,, Thanks for the pep talk. I may need another on in a week or 2. At least this time I have a X training plan to keep me occupied until I can run.

Boy I'm hurting this afternoon. If it keeps up like this tomorrow, I may have to go back to the dreaded boot.

A good movie and dinner with your honey will be 100 times better than a pep talk. C'mon now Rhett ... right now is the time to be spoiling her rotten seeing that Father's Day is right around the corner!! :)

I am really sorry that your foot is hurting so badly.

Rhett, sorry for your continued pain. It is a testament to how mentally tough you are that you keep pushing. I'm glad you are going to give it some time for better recovery. Knowing you, you will still rock.
