MORNING

I was too much of a wimp to get wet 2 mornings in a row so I went to the gym for 45 mins of eliptical.  Looks like we should have a real nice afternoon today and my last patient is at 3:30 today so I'm going to try and get some speed work in right after work today.

EVENING

As predicted, it was a gorgeous afternoon, sun shining and about 55 degrees with no wind. I got home a little after 4, earlier than usual, and headed out for a run. 5 min warm up 11, 2 1/2 min runs (5k pace) each followed by 2 1/2 min jog on rolling hills. Total run 8.4 miles 1 hour 7:10 pace I was amazed how good it felt today. I recovered much faster than usual between each repeat.

Rhett...

I don't blame you for not wanting to go out in the rain. What kind of speed work are you going to run tonight? I see you signed up for Painter's. Cool!!!

I am looking ahead to Saturdays forecast where the high will be around 17 degrees with snow, I totally wish I could run in a little rain.

This summer when you are out at 3:00am with 80 degree weather I will feel sorry for you but not today.

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 13:35:00

80 degrees, try closer to 90 at 3am. But for now, I'll be doing most of my training in weather between 45-60 degrees. Yea!!!!!! The sun is out and it looks gorgeous outside right now. I can't wait to run this pm.

Dale, I think I will do 2 1/2 min repeats over rolling hills. I like that workout for the combination of speed and hill work and it only takes 1 hour no matter how fast or slow you do it.

That was great news about you signing up for Painters. I am looking forward to the lunch get together too. Will be nice to chat with you some instead of at the fire for a few moments.

Rhett, I'm jealous. Not the weather, but the cool one hour speed and hill combination workout. Well, I guess I'm jealous of the afternoon Havasu weather too!

Did I hear we're having lunch after Painter's? I better go check it out!

Wow Rhett!!! I'm getting tired just reading about your run.

So Rhett ... are you peaking right now or is this normal for you to continually get better and better, stronger and stronger, faster and faster??

Awesome workouts today.

From Rhett on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 13:04:34

Teena, I think my body has finally fully recovered from SGM and the bit of lesser running between then and a few weeks ago has allowed my to rebound nicely. I'm probably starting to peak. Hopefully I can keep going up a few more weeks and I'll be ready to PR Painter's. Then hopefully I will be able to maintain for a while and then peak a little higher in April for Boston.

From Kathie on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 13:13:51

Wow Rhett I love it when you feel so good at the end of a run! I am not in that place right now at all. Sombody told me though if I push through I will make a break through... Oh yea that was you!

From huans32 on Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 13:18:26

Great job Rhett. Talk about great dedication. I can see now why you did so well at SGM this yr and even that 5k race. You are really doing awesome man. Keep it up.
