I headed out for a run around the island this morning looking for a nice flat run to do some mp miles.  It was crazy windy out there and raining.  After a warm up mile I tried to hit mp and did on the first mile, then with all the rain my watch started freaking out so I had to lock the bezel which made it so I couldn't activate the light.  I just had to run by feel after that and look at my splits when I was done.  With the wind blowing so hard I felt like I was stopped in my tracks when I was running straight into it, I never could get a good steady effort or pace.  It was a tough mp run.  I did a total of 10 mp pace miles and then did 2 cool down miles.  My left calf started hurting near the end of the run.  I think I may have a bit of tendonitis in it.

Anways, 13 total miles 1:32:20

AP of the 10 mp pace miles was 6:52.  Not where I wanted them to be, but with all the wind I guess I'll take it.

PM- did some light jump roping to see if the calf would loosen up.  It felt a little better by the end.

Sounds like miserable conditions for a mp run. What a fighter! WAY to push thru it! I hope your calf is okay. P.R.I.C.E. it good, please, NO injury!

Being forced to run by feel is a great pacing exercise. Great average pace considering the conditions.

It's been raining off and on all day here, too. It barely started right after I finished my run.

awesome Rhett - I know your frustration not having the Garmin to use, but it seemed to work out for the better using feel

You are very dedicated! A lesser man (myself) would have found a treadmill! :)

nice run and in the end the pace of this one doesn't matter - the effort was the key today. Without the wind you would have nailed it I'm sure.

I hope you have iced a half a dozen times by the time you read this.

Take it easy Capt' Diehard!

Yep, Teena I have already iced it a bunch of times and will continue to do so. I also applied KT tape last night. That is the secret weapon.

Good!!! I love the KT tape. In fact, I just order a 106 ft roll through work for $70.00. That should last a while! :)

I also love the Mueller pre-tape aerosal spray. I put it on before the tape and the tape stays put until I take it off. Which is usually about 5 - 7 days. :)

Keep icing though!!! :)

From Rhett on Tue, Feb 23, 2010 at 15:57:07 from 74.32.219.217

With that much KT tape you can wrap your whole body in the stuff. Do you guys apply the stuff like they show on the web sight, or do you use other patterns also?

I'll have to pick up some Mueller pre-tape aerosal spray.

I'm thinking about mabey throwing in a heel lift insert into my shoes as well. I think it may take a little of the strain off my soleus muscle.
